For those regular readers of my betting tips, you may have noticed I didn’t drop an article last week – sorry about that. I didn’t have time to look for selections due to my daughter being in the hospital, but she’s much better now and I’ve had a bit of time to look into some picks for week 16.
I love the last few weeks of the regular season, some teams are still in the playoff hunt, others can improve their seeding and teams out of it have nothing to lose and seem to try more trick plays or take bigger risks, which can be beneficial to the point markets I fancy and make games that little more exciting!
So, let’s do it!
Houston Texans @ Philadelphia Eagles
Total Points Over 46 – 10/11 – Bet365
The Texans can clinch the AFC South with a victory here and Philly is still in the playoff hunt but they need a fair bit to go their way!
Since 2002 these teams have faced off just the 4 times with the Eagles being victorious in all those matchups. It’s Nick Foles time yet again to be the hero but it’ll be that much more difficult than last year. The average points scored over their 4 encounters has been 49 per game, I see that stat continuing over 5 games now.
Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions
Vikings -6 Handicap – 10/11 – Bet365
Vikings just need to win out the remainder of the season and they’re in, since sacking their offensive coordinator they put up 41 against Miami and looked like they had a bit more life on offense. They’ve won their last 2 against Detroit by 7 and 15 and when it matters most this time around I see them controlling their own destiny with a comfy win at Ford Field. Note: all but 1 of Minnesota’s wins this year have been by more than 6 points.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ New Orleans Saints
Total Points Under 53 – 10/11 – Bet365
Pittsburgh controls its own destiny they can clinch a playoff and/or division this week or next week as long as they keep winning. New Orleans with a win will keep home field advantage throughout playoffs which is massive considering they’ve won all but 1 of their home games.
They boast the league’s best defence over the last 6 games or so conceding a league-low average. 9/15 Steelers games went under 53 and the Saints last 4 have all gone under the same mark, this has a feel of a must-not-lose game, which could translate to low a scoring cagey affair in the dome.
I know the season is far from done yet but I’d like to say Thank You to all of the regular readers of my column, and I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
